In order to coach tennis, Minako moved to San Diego from Japan in 2001. She really likes this friendly community and believes that San Diego is very nice place to play any kinds of sports all over the world. During Minako playing career at Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education (TWCPE), she was a four-year letter winner and helped the TWCPE women's tennis team to successful seasons in 1982-1986. While there, she won the Eastern Japan College Tennis Tournament title as a team member.
Minako's tennis experience began as an instructor at the Hotel New Otani, Club & Club fitness in Chiba, Japan, where she helped develop and create tennis programs, while training many adults and juniors. As a age-group champion amateur Japanese triathlete, Minako was sponsored by some companies, such as Bolle, which is a eyewear company. Plus, she had worked for many years in Nike marketing, traveling frequently on their behalf to the U.S.
After moving to the U.S., Minako has also served as an instructor at the Dennis Tennis in Pacific Beach (Bay Pointe) as the tennis professional, where she coordinated the junior program, club tournaments, adult clinics, and game private lessons. Minako, graduated from Tokyo Women's College of Physical Education, received her bachelor degree in physical education. She, her husband Masa, has his own business, and her twin Misako, was the first female professional triathlete in Japan, reside in Carlsbad, San Diego with their lovely dog, Pigman.
About Olympic Resort Tennis Team
The Olympic Resort Tennis Team (A, BB, and B) is a North County amateur tennis team that competes in various tournaments in San Diego County. Minako coaches them in a tennis clinic every Monday and Friday. She also gives many of them private tennis lessons and personal training sessions.
